Maya is a woman whose mind is full of dreams and fantasies about love. She meets a young country doctor and imagines that he is her dream-lover. After marriage disillusionment comes swiftly. The boredom of a humdrum existence in a small town soon leads her from one sordid affair to another. Her dreams still don't come true and she begins to slip more and more into fantasy.
