G.W. McLintock is a man with a reputation as wide as the desert is as wealthy as any man could wish to be and is about to fall into trouble deeper than the Grand Canyon. John Wayne stars in this light-hearted comedy western about a man who's tamed everything in the West...except his wife. With an all-star cast including Maureen O'Hara Stephanie Powers Chill Wills and Yvonne de Carlo this a fantastic film for the whole family.

Romantic comedy western starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. Cattle baron George Washington McLintock (Wayne), the most successful ranch owner in town, has his hands full with ongoing territorial disputes between government officials, new farmers and the Native Americans who are being driven away from the land. When Katherine (O'Hara), Mclintock's estranged wife who left him two years prior, returns to claim custody of their daughter, he becomes determined to regain her affections. Can he win her back while still maintaining peace within the town?
John Wayne shows off his funny side in this 1963 western, a comedy inspired by THE TAMING OF THE SHREW. Starring as wealthy cattle baron G.W. McLintock, Wayne displays a real sense of comic timing in several slapstick-filled scenes. After his wife (Maureen O'Hara) and daughter leave him for the East, McLintock attempts to win them back. The dynamics between O'Hara and Wayne are the strong suit of this film, the actors having worked together previously on THE QUIET MAN. As this is by no means a revisionist western, McLintock's chauvinistic attempts to tame his wife fit within the problematic ideology of the larger western genre. The ultimate example of this comes at the end of the film when McLintock settles his marital dispute by publicly spanking his wife in what is now a notorious cinematic moment.
