SPECIAL FEATURES: AUDIO COMMENTARY BY DIRECTOR SAM FISHER, WRITER MARC CONKLIN AND JOHN CROMWELL. THE MAKING OF MEMORIAL DAY.

Wartime drama starring James Cromwell. When Staff Sergeant Kyle Vogel (Jonathan Bennett) is injured in the Iraqi war and placed in hospital to recuperate, an inquisitive nurse asks him why he insists on keeping the piece of shrapnel which has been removed from his leg. At first reluctant to answer her questions, he begins to recount the day he found his grandfather's footlocker full of wartime souvenirs and the resulting stories he was told about a select few of them. A series of flashbacks shows Kyle's grandfather Bud (Cromwell)'s experiences of the Second World War and what led him to collect these souvenirs, mirroring his grandson's own present day understanding of the horrors of combat.
