Michael McIntyre is, to my mind, one of the best British stand-up comedians around at the moment and, unlike some of my other favourite comedians, one which you can even watch with your mother! He has appeared on television on shows such as "Mock the Week", Live at the Apollo" and "Have I Got News for You" and has participated in several radio shows. He won Best Stand-up Comedian at the British Comedy Awards in 2009.
"Michael McIntyre's Comedy Collection" includes "Michael McIntyre - Live and Laughing" and Michael McIntyre- Hello Wembley". Both of these... titles are highly acclaimed as DVDs in their own right.
His material is based on every-day situations, presented almost in caricature. He reminds us how irrational we are in some of the things we do and his musings are expertly illustrated in such a way as to prove to us we are definitely odd and often eccentric. He imitates some of our more bizarre driving habits, exposes the fact that we are all strangely in possession of a "man drawer" and draws our attention to a multitude of other peculiar idiosyncrasies in our lives. He makes us realise the absurdity of things that we have come to accept as "normal" but is so good-natured with it that he allows us to laugh comfortably at ourselves as the truth sinks in.
His comedy style is pleasant and his delivery is unique. His facial expressions are widely diverse as he moves from childlike grins, through surprise and bewilderment to stupefaction and disbelief! With his overly dramatic arm gestures and his trademark skipping and prancing across every square inch of the stage he might even be described as "almost camp".
It is patently obvious to anyone - the audience adore him!
