British Comedy Award winning Miranda Hart wrote and also starred in this hugely popular and genuinely original, albeit slightly old-fashioned, first series; "Miranda: Complete BBC Series 1".
Miranda is over 6 ft tall and, while facially quite pleasantly attractive, is hopelessly clumsy both socially and physically. She struggles to fit in with her contemporaries from boarding school, Tilly played by Sally Phillips ("bear with") and Fanny (Katy Wix) who are extremely stylish, petite and sophisticated, instead choosing to run a joke shop with her childhood... friend Stevie (Sarah Hadland). Gary (Tom Ellis), an old university friend who Miranda desperately fancies, is a chef and a constant presence in her life as he runs the restaurant next door.
Despite obsessively planning every elaborate detail of each of her persistent forays into "normal" social interaction (such as dating, shopping, evening classes, waitressing, going on holiday) Miranda always seems to end up flustered, embarrassed and quite often falling, literally, on the floor. To add to her problems, her "what I call" overbearing mother (Patricia Hodge) is constantly undermining her confidence and attempts to marry her off to any man she can possibly hijack.
Along with camp waiter Clive (James Holmes) and her other associates this sitcom is based around oddball Miranda and the awkward situations she unwittingly blunders into. "Such fun"! [show more]
