I loved this movie, didn't get much in the way of hype and probably all the better for it.

The premise sounds a bit weak and maybe that it's a monster movie - I guess it is of sorts but more about the monster within than the ones outside trying to get you!

Some strong performances from a mostly unknown cast.

The FX aren't amazing but aren't shoddy either, thankfully this came out before everything had to be 3D or they might have messed with it!

Also there is a great ending that'll have you shouting 'nooooooooooooooooo' at the TV!

    Worth a purchase I'd say.

Don't be fooled; The Mist is a lot harder hitting than its B-movie credentials suggest. Sold as a homage to the 50's creature of the week style of film-making, writer/director Frank Darabont has produced what ends up being one of the bleakest movies you will ever see. Our vessel for the carnage is David Drayton (Thomas Jane) who becomes trapped in a supermarket with his son and other patrons when a deadly mist descends upon their rural back water. The strength of the piece is in the writing, which uses the strong central protagonists to make several - sometimes unsubtle - statements about politics and the nature of the human race. We soon come to realise that the monsters outside are not the only dangerous entity to worry about as Marcia Gay Harden's religious zealot gathers followers to her cause. Those not wishing to be involved in a bible based sacrifice make a break for freedom, but face tough decisions before journeys end. A film with strong characterisation and a deeper message shows how worthy the horror genre can be when taken in the right direction. Just don't expect to feel good when the credits roll.

Please note this is a region 2 DVD and will require a region 2 (Europe) or region Free DVD Player in order to play After a vicious storm wreaks havoc in their small town in Maine, artist David Drayton heads out to the town supermarket for some much-needed supplies with his young son, Billy, and his neighbour, Norton, in tow. Their trip soon turns to terror when a menacing white mist settles in, leaving this group of locals and out-of-towners fighting for survival against an unknown, bloodthirsty enemy. When the local religious zealot begins to convince the group that the mist is punishment from God, Drayton and his cohorts realize that they may be trapped inside with an enemy just as dangerous as whatever is lurking outside.

Horror based on the novella by Stephen King. After a number of people in a small town in Maine are killed by supernatural creatures lurking in a thick fog, a small group of survivors led by artist David Drayton (Thomas Jane) take shelter in a local supermarket. The frightened survivors attempt to discover the origins of the deadly mist, with rumours pointing toward an experiment conducted at a nearby military base. As the world around them slowly descends into a literal hell-on-earth, one of the survivors calls for Old Testament-style sacrifices in order to pacify the malevolent forces.
