A period film studying the effects of colonialism in West Africa during the 1920s. The story concerns an obsessed British official (Pierce Brosnan), attempting to build a road linking North and South Nigeria, and his ambitious anglophile African clerk, Mr Johnson (Maynard Eziashi).
