South African drama set at the beginning of the Second World War when the competing English and Italian armies raised the ire of the proprietors of a local wildlife reserve. American couple James Kingstreet (John Saxon) and Maggie (Tippi Hedren) run a reserve that is awkwardly located between British and Italian colonies in Africa. As each of the armies bid to gain an advantage over the other they begin making inroads onto the Kingstreet's territory and endanger the welfare of their animals. Particularly provoked by the Italian commanding officer (Rossano Brazzi), the couple feel they have no option other than to defend their land by force. Will they be able to hold out against two armies?
