Hugh Grant stars as an '80s pop star who gets a second chance in this new romcom.
Chick flick it may be, but on another rainy English day, while my wife was hard at work, I chucked this in the DVD for a laugh. Funny in places and not a bad story line the film moves along quite well, you get behind the characters in their quest to right a hit song by the deadline. Predictable plot and ending but none the less enjoyable if there is no sport on the box.

Please note this is a region 2 DVD and will require a region 2 (Europe) or region Free DVD Player in order to play. A washed up singer is given a couple days to compose a chart-topping hit for an aspiring teen sensation. Though he's never written a decent lyric in his life, he sparks with an offbeat younger woman with a flair for words.
Romantic comedy starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Alex Fletcher (Grant) was a popular musician in the 1980s, but these days he's lucky to get a gig playing at the local county fair. Just when it seems as if things couldn't get any bleaker for Alex, reigning pop diva Cora Corman (Haley Bennett) offers him the opportunity to write and record a duet with her and give his career a much-needed boost. Little does Cora realise that not only has it been years since Alex has written a song, but he's never actually written a single lyric. Now, if he hopes to make the comeback needed to save him from a life of complete and utter obscurity, Alex will have to craft a radio-friendly hit in a matter of mere days. Luckily for Alex, his quirky plant-keeper Sophie Fisher (Barrymore) has quite a way with words and may possess just the kind of songwriting talent needed to make such a hit happen.
