This DVD production was recorded live in the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam Netherlands on January 27th 2001. The same day a hundred years earlier Giuseppe Verdi died. Not surprisingly his first big opera success was selected to commemorate one of the greatest composers ever. In this production the excellent acting and music underlines how fitting Verdi's composition and story is for today's audience.
