Neil Young -The Wrecking Ball DVD

| DVD

By 1976 Neil Young had already created a body of work that most songwriters would cut off both arms and legs to have composed. But Young had merely completed another phase of his career and was ready to start the next. This film tells the story and reviews the music of Neil from the release of his stunning 'Zuma' album at the end of 1975, up to the release of the well received 'Prairie Wind' in 2005 - a thirty year period during which this maverick musician covered just about every style in existence. Featuring musical performances of Neil Young, reviewed by a team... of esteemed experts, obscure footage, rare interviews and seldom seen photographs of and with Young. Includes contributions from N.Y. biographer John Einarson, The Village Voice's , Robert Christgau; British rock author and music journalist, Barney Hoskins; Uncut magazine's contributing editor, Nigel Williamson; ex-editor of BAM magazine and early champion of Neil Young, Dave Zimmer; CSNY biographer, Johnny Rogan; acclaimed music writer and historian, Clinton Heylin, and many others. Also includes live and studio recordings of Neil Young classics reappraised by our panel of contributors. [show more]

Documentary which examines the work of Neil Young from 1975 to 2005. Though Young had carved out a successful career for himself as a rock singer-songwriter by 1975, he wasn't prepared to rest on his laurels and would spend the next 30 years experimenting with different sounds and styles of music. This documentary relives those years with the aid of archive footage of Young in performance and interview, contributions from those who know the musician and critical assessments from music journalists.
