All four episodes of the drama series starring Warren Clarke and Haydn Gwynne. In 1986 industrial England, the University of Rummidge is facing budget cuts and redundancies after the introduction of Thatcherism and the hard-hitting recession leave their mark. English literature lecturer Robyn Penrose (Gwynne) is sent to shadow a local self-made managing director in an attempt to gain publicity and be considered for the Industry Year Shadow Scheme, and gets more than she bargained for when she meets the inhospitable Vic Wilcox (Clarke). As time passes though, the pair begin to display signs of mutual respect and ultimately find themselves drawn to each other.
