Director Sam Taylor-Wood takes us back in time to explore the teenage years of the insolent and rebellious John Lennon. Growing up in the city of Liverpool, we see his remarkable aunt who raised him and his feisty Mother who gave him away, battling for his affections. Desperate for a normal family environment, Lennon distracts himself from his troubles with art and the music coming in from America. Through his passion of music, Lennon meets the like minded Paul McCartney but just as a new chapter beings in Lennon's life an old one comes back to haunt him.
Nowhere Boy, which premiered at the London Film Festival 2009, is based on the book 'Imagine This: Growing Up With My Brother John Lennon' by Julia Baird and includes music by English electronic duo Goldfrapp.
