The film that really introduced us to the talents of Jake Gyllenhaal, this film is a fine example of how education is, for most people, the only way out of a bad situation. The cast is magnificent and Chris Cooper is in arguably his best role, but it is the enthusiasm of Jake Gyllenhaal that carries the film. The film has humour, warmth and a soft centre, but you would need a heart of steel not to be moved. Don't miss!
