Adrien Fournier (Éric Caravaca) is a handsome young officer in the French army who returns from service in the First World War with a horribly disfigured face. He is sent to recover in military hospital amongst other young men injured by the war, and slowly, in their company, he begins to regain his sense of self-worth.
