Collection of four British crime dramas based on the long-running 1940s radio series. In 'Send for Paul Temple' (1946) Anthony Hulme stars as Paul Temple, the crime writer who occasionally lends his services to Scotland Yard. When a spate of deadly robberies breaks out across the nation, a Scotland yard detective and friend of Temple's comes to visit him - and is found dead a short time later, apparently having committed suicide. As Temple takes up the investigation, he comes into contact with the woman who will eventually become his wife, the dead man's sister, Steve (Joy Shelton). In 'Calling Paul Temple' (1948) a serial killer is disposing of the patients Dr. Kohima (Abraham Sofaer) has been treating for anxiety. Temple, now played by John Bentley, is brought in to work on the case. In 'Paul Temple's Triumph' (1950), the third film in the series, the crime writer and his wife, Steve (Dinah Sheridan), investigate the kidnapping of a scientist whose plans for an atomic weapon have been taken by a gang of criminals. In the final film in the series, 'Paul Temple Returns' (1952), the amateur detective learns of a number of murders terrorising his homeland while holidaying in New York. Warned by the culprit, the notorious 'Marquis' not to get involved, Temple nevertheless wastes no time in setting after his quarry.
