Almodvar's provocative first feature Pepi Luci Bom (1980) is set during Madrid's punk era. The film is an outrageous comedy which follows docile housewife Luci (Eva Silva) her trendy marijuana smoking neighbour Pepi (Carmen Maura) and rock star Bom (Olvido Gara) who are close friends. Events take a shocking turn when Pepi is raped by a policeman. Pepi vows revenge and of course her friends are on hand to make sure she gets it.

The first feature from Spanish director Pedro Almodovar, made while he was still working at the Post Office. Set during Madrid's post-Franco punk period, it is a pot-pourri of his usual obsessions: sex, drugs, adverts, musical numbers, violence and female masochism all put together with low-budget style and panache.
