Canadian media artist Peter Mettler directs this conceptual documentary produced for Greenpeace Canada. The film focuses on the Alberta Tar Sands, a vast swathe of rural Canada that has long been a battleground for oil companies and environmental groups. Shot primarily from a helicopter in cinematic high-definition, the film offers an aerial view of the largest industrial project on earth, clearly showing the extreme destruction of the tar sands and the real, unsightly consequences of Western society's reliance on oil.
