German drama set in the aftermath of World War II. After receiving facial surgery to repair the injuries she sustained in a Nazi concentration camp, Jewish singer Nelly Lenz (Nina Hoss) searches for her husband Johnny (Ronald Zehrfeld), who, according to her friend Lene (Nina Kunzendorf), has betrayed her. Nelly hopes to discover that Johnny still loves her but when she finds him he doesn't recognise her. Believing his other half to be dead and seeing that Nelly bears a resemblance to her, Johnny plans to have her impersonate his wife so he can claim her inheritance. Nelly decides to keep her true identity a secret but will she go through with the plan?
