Set in 1952 in Red Hook, Brooklyn, 'Last Exit to Brooklyn' tells the stories of several down-and-out characters, including the prostitute Tralala (Jennifer Jason Leigh), Harry Black (Stephen Lang), a union activist worried by his emerging homosexuality, and Big Joe (Burt Young), a striking worker with an unmarried and pregnant daughter. Based on the controversial 1964 novel by Hubert Selby Jnr, who makes an appearance in the film as a hit-and-run driver.
