Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction is a rich 90s masterpiece that reinstated John Travolta as a major Hollywood actor and officially launched Samuel L. Jackson as a megastar. Following Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction skilfully paints a picture of a mythic L.A underworld brimming with drug dealers, molls, hitmen, small-time criminals and a mysterious briefcase.
The story is presented out of sequence and is made up of separate but interlinking storylines about redemption. The film begins with Honey Bunny and Pumpkin who impulsively hold-up a diner, but find it... harder than their usual targets. Next it shifts to Vincent and Jules, hit men working for mob boss Marsellus Wallace, who are trying to retrieve a special briefcase that was stolen from him. Vincent is also asked to look after Wallace's wife when he is out of town, but one of them makes an unforgivable mistake. Finally there's Butch Coolidge who's being paid by Wallace to fix a fight, but by accident kills his opponent and has to escape town.
Pulp fiction, infamous for its quotability, violence, sophistication and eclectic soundtrack, received seven Academy Award nominations in total including Best Picture and won Best Original Screenplay for Tarantino and his co-writer Roger Avary.
Nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award 1995, this boldly inventive and expertly orchestrated crime saga is now available as a two disc DVD set that includes such extras as deleted scenes, interviews and a documentary. [show more]
