Moving slice-of-life drama from writer Nanni Moretti ('The Son's Room', 'Dear Diary') and director Antonello Grimaldi, based on the novel by Sandro Veronesi, about how a man learns to cope with bereavement. While visiting the beach one morning, film executive Pietro Paladini (Moretti) jumps into the waves to save Eleonora (Isabella Ferrari) from drowning. When he returns home, Pietro finds out the devastating news that his wife Lara has died after suffering a fall. Now a lone parent responsible for his ten-year-old daughter Claudia (Blu Yoshimi), Pietro has to make the necessary adjusments to his private and professional lives. Realising that his daughter's needs come first, Pietro waits outside her school every day for Claudia to finish, pushing his own work priorities to the back of the queue, making his colleagues visit him at the school gates if they want to do business. As time moves on, Pietro gradually comes to terms with his loss, gaining a greater understanding and appreciation of both himself and those around him.
