The end of the Mexican-American War saw the start of a bloody and murderous period in the Old West as people sort to claim large pieces of land to ensure their future. In a lawless territory ex-army officer Angus McKane (Jim Davis) and his posse of henchmen including Daman Pardee (Lee Van Cleef) lay claim to a vast region of California their ownership of which is now being questioned. With his livelihood on the line and Marshal Faron Young (Faron Young) uncovering the truth McKane will stop at nothing to ensure his past deeds remain hidden.
