Wales is the birthplace of railway restoration. The small narrow gauge lines that once carried slate from the mines to the coast led the way in the railway preservation movement. Today the many standard gauge lines make up a comprehensive cross section of railway preservation which caters for railway enthusiasts and tourists alike. From the standard gauge steam train at Llangollen to the wonderful miniature railways of the Conway Valley Railway Museum the marvellous railways of Wales come in all shapes and sizes.
