After serving 19 years on Georgia's death row for the rape and murder of his 16-year-old girlfriend, Daniel Holden (Young) is finally released after new DNA evidence is used to question his conviction. But with state prosecutors still pursuing him, Daniel struggles to adjust to the changed world he's been released into. As he tries to piece his life back together with the help of his family, Daniel is still haunted by events from his past and his time in prison.
