It is the 1970s in Kingston, Jamaica. Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace is struggling to earn the money to support his family. He is an excellent drummer, but due to corruption in the music industry, he is left to rot in poverty. When he protests, the music industry is swift to crush his resistance. Finally, he bands together with fellow musicians Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, Jacob Miller and Bunny Wailer and stages an uprising which will put his musical skills on the map, and benefit the local community at the same time. The film contains music performed by some of the legends of reggae.
