This drama/documentary traces the development of the early musical influences of the Gaelic rock band, Runrig. Directed by Graham Strong, Air An Oir is filmed through the eyes of two ten-year old boys from Portree, Skye, as they find themselves caught between their gaelic culture and the new wave of American rock 'n' rollmusic, flooding the airwaves during the late 50s and 60s. It opens as they queue outside the local village hall, eager to take their seats for the weekly visit of the island projectonist. These scenes are intercut with footage from Runrig's 1992 tour;in... particular , featuring two performances in Estonia and Canada, together with scenes filmed on location in New York.Originally produced in 1993.
