Historian Ben Macintyre presents this three-part BBC documentary which takes a look at the history of the SAS. With special access to secret files, archive footage and interviews with its founders, Macintyre traces the early history of the SAS from its formation in 1941 by David Stirling, through the Second World War and Paddy Mayne's assumption of command in 1943 after Stirling is captured and imprisoned in Colditz.
