Directed by Steven Spielberg, Saving Private Ryan follows a group of eight US soldiers who go behind enemy lines in Nazi occupied territory to retrieve paratrooper James Francis Ryan.
Ryan's mother received three telegrams in one day, each telling her that a son had died in battle. When Chief of Staff, General Marshall hears of this, he decides to ease some of her heartache by finding her fourth and only remaining son and sending him home to his mother.
The squad of men enter the dangerous territory, but soon find themselves risking their own... lives to "Save Private Ryan". Will they find Ryan? Will he be alive? and more importantly how many of them will have to fall in order to bring him home?
This gripping war thriller, as well as action and adventure, offers a human element that brings to light the reality of battle and the broken families affected by war.
