All five films in the popular horror franchise. 'Saw' (2004) was the directorial debut for James Wan, and the first screenplay written by actor Leigh Whannell, who also stars. Two men, Adam (Whannell) and Dr Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes), wake up to find themselves chained to pipes in a room they have never seen before. Between them lies the dead body of a man with apparently self-inflicted gunshot wounds. As they begin to piece together the circumstances that led to their predicament, the pair realise they are the latest victims of a serial killer known as the Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), who orchestrates situations in which his captors will be driven to kill each other. They also learn that the killer has taken Gordon's family hostage. How can the men possibly outwit this sadistic psychopath in time to save themselves and the hostages? Donnie Wahlberg and Shawnee Smith star in the first sequel, 'Saw II' (2005). While investigating the bloody aftermath of a grizzly murder, Detective Eric Mason (Wahlberg) has the feeling that it is the work of Jigsaw (Bell), the notorious killer who disappeared leaving a trail of bodies - and parts - behind. Mason is right; Jigsaw is at work again. But instead of two people locked in a room with only one unthinkable way out, there are eight. Eight strangers, unaware of their connection to each other, forced to play out a game that challenges their wits and puts their lives in jeopardy. Bell again returns to his role as the psychopathic killer in 'Saw III' (2006). After eluding the cops, Jigsaw turns an abandoned warehouse on the edge of town into a gruesome torture chamber. Jigsaw's new protegee Amanda (Shawnee Smith) kidnaps a doctor who is forced to keep the evil master alive. Barely clinging to life, Jigsaw begins to carry out his gruesome plans for the doctor and another helpless victim. In 'Saw IV' (2007), two seasoned FBI profilers, Agent Strahm (Scott Patterson) and Agent Perez (Athene Karkanis) arrive at the depleted police precinct following Detective Kerry's murder and help veteran Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) sift through the evidence of Jigsaw (Bell)'s latest grisly game. But the SWAT Commander Rigg (Lyriq Bent), the only local officer who has yet to experience Jigsaw's handiwork, is suddenly abducted. Thrust into the madman's harrowing game, he has but 90 minutes to overcome a diabolical series of interconnected traps - or face the deadly consequences. In 'Saw V' (2008), forensics expert Mark Hoffman (Mandylor) is the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy. But when his secret is threatened, Hoffman must go on the hunt to eliminate all loose ends...
