Epic drama set during the paranoia and violence of the 16th century Inquisition in Europe. Although they haven't seen each other for over a decade, the force of the bond developed between Martin (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Georg (Peter McDonald), while growing up together as orphans in a monastery, continues to mean a great deal to both men. While George has been taken under the wing of the local Archbishop (John Shrapnel), Martin's love for Anna (Anastasia Griffith) has led him to succeed her father as the executioner for the region's ruthless Inquisitor (Steven Berkhoff). However, when the pair's respective roles see them meet again in extraordinary circumstances, their dedication to each other will be tested to the limit.
