A mother searches for her sick daughter in the haunted, deserted town of Silent Hill in this chilling horror.
Being a large (not fat mind) fan of the game series, I approached this film with excitement (like a child), but also trepidation (like a film fan who's seem too many crap game adaptations).
All I can tell you about the film is: if you are a fan of the games, then you might feel a bit disappointed (but happy in places). If you are oblivious to the games, then you may well enjoy most of this.
Rhada Mitchel is fine (but not fit enough), Sean Bean sleepwalks through his part (AGAIN), and the scary bits are ok, but not as creepy as they should be. The ending is pants also....
As a (sad?) Silent Hill completist, I'll still buy whatever super-duper version they bring out, but for the uninitiated, probably best to rent and make your decision afterwards.....

Horror set in the eerie and deserted town of Silent Hill where a young mother is desperate to find a cure for her only child's illness. Unable to accept the doctor's diagnosis that her daughter should be permanently institutionalised for psychiatric care, Rose (Radha Mitchell) flees with her child, heading for the abandoned town in search of answers and ignoring the protests of her husband (Sean Bean). It's soon clear this place is unlike anywhere she's ever been. It's smothered by fog, inhabited by a variety of strange beings and periodically overcome by a living Darkness that literally transforms everything it touches. As Rose searches for her little girl, she begins to learn the history of the strange town and realises that her daughter is just a pawn in a larger game.
