The Alpine Symphony takes the listener on a mountain hike. Setting out at daybreak we climb up wooded slopes cross alpine meadows and glaciers until we reach the summit. On the way back down we are caught in a thunderstorm and as the sun sets and dusk falls the symphony comes to an end. Tobias Melle brings these pictorial motifs from Richard Strauss' tone poem to life in his photographs of the Berchtesgaden Alps - looking at his photos we see far more than a simple illustration: we experience a thrilling visual animation of the music.
We will publish your review of Strauss - Alpine Symphony in Images (Zinman, Tonhalle-Orch) on DVD within a few days as long as it meets our guidelines.
