Gemma Arterton stars as Tamara Drewe. Born and raised in a quiet, idyllic English Countryside village, Ewedown, on the outskirts of London, Tamara was the shy and retiring type, an awkward teenage girl, with a crooked nose - your typical plain Jane.
After being away for a few years, with a blossoming career working for a Newspaper, Tamara returns to Ewedown to sell her recently deceased mother's house which she has inherited. Nearly unrecognisable, her... return causes a stir in the village as she emerges as a beautiful young, alluring woman with a glamorous career along with a new nose and bags of sex appeal to boot.
As she settles into country life once more, she finds herself pursued by her past, in the forms of odd job man and old flame Andy Cobb (Luke Evans), the swaggering drummer in a local rock band Ben Sergeant (Dominic Cooper) and Nicholas (Roger Allam) with whom she was infatuated with in her teens.
As her past catches up to her, Tamara must sort out her childhood home in order to leave once more return to normality - there is nothing worth sticking around for... is there?
