Milly (18) and her brother Max (20) are both students. They share a flat in Kilburn with engineering student David Chang (21). Vernon (Ade Edmonson) is Max and Milly's dad. After a messy divorce in which his wife takes everything Vernon's left broke and homeless - so he moves in with his kids! It's a three bedroom flat and Vernon has to sleep in the cupboard under the stairs (just big enough for a single mattress).
