Molly De Mora (Paula Marshall) wants her divorced parents Dan (Dennis Farina) and Lilly (Bette Midler), an actress, to be civil to each other at her wedding to stuffy politician Keith Marks (Jamie Denton). Dan and Lilly amaze everyone by doing just that. In fact, they end up rekindling their old passion and making love in a car - despite the fact that they have both remarried. Lilly has been followed by paparazzo photographer Joey (Danny Nucci), and so the two couples soon find themselves on the run from the press. Much bed-hopping and marital confusion ensues.
