  • The Aristocrats [2005]
    Michael Pereira

Many of the famous comedians of our era, from Whoopi Goldberg, George Carlin and Eric Idol come together to talk about the comedian's joke; this is no joke for an ordinary person. The Aristocrats is said to go back to the turn of the 20th Century; it is comedy's best kept secret, and now you can join the secret club.
There are many different interpretations of the joke from the expert comedians, and an analysis as to why they are funny; and how this joke which, after a century, is still strong and made relevant to people of today.
What's the joke? I'll tell you the general features:
    i. A person walks into a talent agency
ii. The person says to the agent; 'I've got the greatest act for you, ever! It's a family act'
iii. The talent scout replies: 'We aren't really looking for family acts, I'm sorry'
iv. The person says 'please, this is a brilliant act, if you give us a moment to show you we promise you will like it.'
    v. Okay, lets see it then...
vi. (the act changes from different interpretations, as the act ends, the talent scout replies): Wow, that's something! What do you call an act like that?
    vii. THE ARISTOCRATS!
You won't understand why that is funny just from the above. That is the beauty of the joke.
If you are of gentle temperament and very sensitive to jokes about social groups or serious issues; then DON'T watch this. If you want your humour to be challenged, or you are already pretty sick, or, you love freedom of speech WATCH THIS NOW. I promise it will change the way you look at humour, forever.

Outrageous, star-studded comedy extravaganza that celebrates the art of improvisation and the finest traditions of stand up. Co-creators and veteran alternative comedians Penn Jillette and Paul Provenza capitalise on their insider status to invite over 100 of their closest friends (who just happen to be some of the biggest names in entertainment) to reminisce, analyse, deconstruct and deliver their own versions of the world's dirtiest joke, an old burlesque routine known as 'the aristocrats'.

One hundred comedians tell the same dirty joke.
