To escape from the hospital he's being held in, psychiatric patient John Burns (Aykroyd) assumes the identity of his psychiatrist Dr. Lawrence Baird and agrees to fill in for Dr. George Maitlin (Charles Grodin) on his popular radio talk show in L.A.
