Alejandro Jodorowsky writes and directs this Spanish fantasy drama. Based on the director's own life, the story follows young Ukrainian-Jew Alejandro (Jeremías Herskovits) as he grows up in Tocopilla, Chile, with his mother Sara (Pamela Flores) and Stalinist father Jaime (Brontis Jodorowsky). While the dictatorial Jaime teaches his son the meaning of manhood, and later embarks on a quest to assassinate Chile's right-wing president Carlos Ibáñez del Campo (Bastian Bodenhofer), Alejandro is often left to turn to the smothering comfort of his mother.
