Award-winning drama from director Shohei Imamura. Takura (Koji Yakusho) murders his wife after finding her in bed with another man. After his release from prison, he takes a job as a hairdresser in a quiet town, and isolates himself from the rest of the community. Seemingly content to spend the rest of his life alone, his routine is disturbed by a young woman who has her own demons to battle. The film won the Cannes Palme d'Or in 1997.
