In Pennsylvania, 1759, the French and the British are at war. Jim Smith (John Wayne) is an American settler who leads a group of rebels to prevent trader Callender (Brian Donlevy) supplying the Native Americans with arms. Disguised as the enemy, they attack Callender's wagon trail, and besiege the local British fort.
