Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts star in this biographical drama directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The film follows Jeannette Walls (Larson), a young girl travelling the country with her nonconformist parents and two sisters. With her alcoholic father Rex (Harrelson) moving from job to job and her eccentric mother Rose Mary (Watts) trying to make it as an artist, Jeannette and her sisters are constantly forced to adapt to new surroundings and fend for themselves while their parents struggle to put food on the table due to their mounting debts. Despite Rex's attempts to distract the girls with false promises for the future, Jeannette becomes increasingly frustrated with her family situation as she grows older and eventually decides to head to New York in a bid to better herself.
