Bill Paxton directs this historical sports drama, set during the 1913 US Open. Working-class Massachusetts boy Francis Ouimet (Shia LaBeouf) dreams of becoming a professional golf player at a time when the game was the preserve of the rich and privileged. Managing to get a place as an amateur in the 1913 US Open tournament, Francis is seen as nothing more than a novelty act, with established British player Harry Vardon (Stephen Dillane) expected to win. Both men have more in common than they thought, coming from equally deprived backgrounds, and against all the odds, Francis ends up being Harry's only serious challenger in the final match.
