Palestinian drama co-written and directed by Hany Abu-Assad. The film follows the life of aspiring musician and Gaza refugee Mohammed Assaf (Tawfeek Barhom) in the build up to competing in the 2013 edition of 'Arab Idol'. Beginning in 2005, Mohammed starts his musical career by forming a band with his sister Nour (Hiba Attalah) and their childhood friends and playing at some local parties and weddings. When Nour is diagnosed with kidney failure Mohammed vows to raise enough money to get her an organ transplant. At his singing lessons he becomes infatuated and inspired by a girl he meets who convinces him to continue on his path to pop superstardom even after tragedy devastates Mohammed and his family. His journey ultimately leads him to make the dangerous crossing into Egypt for the first auditions of 'Arab Idol' in Cairo where he hopes to impress enough to make it on to the main show as a symbol of hope for Palestine.
