Victor Saville directs this British historical drama focusing on events leading up to the Battle of Waterloo. In 1815, the heads of power are planning to split Europe between themselves when news arrives that Napoleon Bonaparte has escaped from his exile on the island of Elba and returned to France. When Napoleon regains power, the Duke of Wellington (George Arliss) is forced to take to the field in the Battle of Waterloo, but fears heavy casualties among his own men.
