1950s Western starring Glenn Ford as John Stroud, a fighter for Texan independence who is branded a coward after being chosen by lot to leave the Alamo before the bitter end. When all his compatriots are wiped out by the Mexican army, he is left with no proof that he was ordered to leave his post, and is perceived by everyone who knows him to be a deserter.
