Tony Curtis stars as an investigative traffic officer in this film noir. After a Catholic priest is brutally murdered in an alleyway in San Francisco, Joe Martini (Curtis), who viewed the priest as a father figure, asks to assist with the investigation. When he oversteps the mark and is taken off the case, Joe hunts for the killer alone and infiltrates the family of restaurant owner Sylvio Malatesta (Gilbert Roland), who he considers to be the prime suspect. Will he be able to draw a confession out of him?
