Francis Ford Coppola directs this tale of gang rivalries in 1960s Oklahoma. The story is based around the ongoing feud between the rich middle class 'Socs' and the working class 'Greasers'. The feud soon escalates into murder, revenge and betrayal. Based on the popular novel by teenage authoress S.E. Hinton, this film version is notable for being the launchpad for some of the 'Brat Pack' (Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez and Rob Lowe).
