THE REBOUND is a fresh, witty, and sexy comedy about bouncing back.
The Rebound takes two individuals from very different periods in their lives and drops them in each other's paths. What follows is a story where the two parties must overcome their differences to a point where they can find love, but the question is can they continue on this path.
Katherine Zeta-Jones plays Sandy a 40 something year old woman just coming out of a marriage with two young children and a stressful job and this is one of the finest roles she has portrayed. She is a very believable and emotionally driven character. Justin Bartha plays Aram, a 25-year-old college graduate and a man lost in life. He gives much more in this role than in The Hangover. He sure knows how to deliver a line and balance the life between work and play.most of the time. These two seem like the oddest pair in the world, chalk and cheese, but somehow their relationship works, for a while anyway.
Bart Freundlich, the director and the man handling all the magic has done wonders with this movie. The comedy is brilliant, the romance is spot on although not conventional at all times and the ending in particular will have people believing in love, especially with February 14th just around the corner. The manner in which strong issues can still be expressed while not overcast by the more comical nature of the film is outstanding and remains strong and primary important.
The Rebound is certainly not your typical romantic comedy, but it will have aspects many individuals can relate to in some degree.
