Dramatisation of the classic Jack London novel, in which the hard captain of a seal-hunting vessel rescues a soft-hearted wreck survivor and forces him to face the harsh realities of life. The cynical and embittered Wolf Larsen (Sebastian Koch), skipper of the Sea Wolf, decides to test intellectual Humphrey Van Weyden (Stephen Campbell Moore)'s philosophical approach to life by putting him to work on board his schooner. Soon Van Weyden finds his attitudes shifting and he becomes almost as unyielding and jaded as the Captain.
